Linus the Lionhearted
I've been spending this morning transferring several Linus the Lionhearted CBS-TV network episodes from 16mm film to DVD. The reason that I am mentioning it is because I discovered something about Linus that I didn't realize before. I always thought that the CBS-TV network episodes all had the long Linus openings, and that the short openings first made their appearance when the series moved to ABC-TV in reruns. Well, during the transfer of one of the episodes I found out that I was mistaken.![]()
The black and white print, which originally aired on February 19, 1966, starts out with the animated "CBS presents this program in color". This is then followed by the same short opening and Post Cereal bumper that appeared on every ABC-TV network print that I've ever seen. I guess it's not an earth-shattering revelation, but it corrects a misconception that I've had for many years.
