The Beatles
King
Features' animated version of the Liverpool mop-heads, was
originally seen in 1965 on ABC-TV's Saturday morning schedule. John, Paul,
George and Ringo (with talking voices provided by Paul Frees and Lance Percival)
were featured in sing-a-long adventures, based upon songs recorded by the Fab
Four. This episode includes "And Your Bird Can Sing", "Penny
Lane", "Eleanor Rigby" and "Got To Get You Into My
Life". The series also included very clever animated bridges between
the segments.
Fantastic Voyage
Originally airing in 1968 on ABC-TV's Saturday morning schedule, this animated
Filmation series was inspired by the 1966 live-action feature from 20th
Century-Fox of the same name. The series featured a miniaturized team of
government agents exploring areas never before explored. The episode on this
DVD is entitled "First Men On The Moon"
The Famous Adventures Of Mr. Magoo
The nearsighted Quincy Magoo portrays various literary and historical characters
in this cartoon from UPA that originally aired on NBC-TV prime-time in 1964.
Magoo's voice is provided by Jim Backus. The adventure featured on this DVD is "Dick
Tracy And The Mob", based upon the comic-strip character created by
Chester Gould. Everett Sloane provides the voice of Tracy, as he did in UPA's
1961 syndicated "Dick Tracy" series.
Skyhawks
Ken Snyder and Pantomime Pictures produced this animated action adventure series
which appeared on ABC-TV's Saturday morning schedule in 1969. The Skyhawks were
an air transport/rescue/secret mission service run by the flying Wilson clan.
The episode on this video feature two adventures, "Radioactive
Lake" and "Dog Fight". Voices included Michael Rye,
Joan Gerber, Dick Curtis and Casey Kasem, with the theme song performed by Mike
Curb and the Curbstones.
The Wacky Races
Hanna-Barbera's The Wacky Races, produced in association with game show
producers Heatter-Quigley, first
appeared on CBS-TV's Saturday morning schedule in 1968. The show featured zany
race car drivers competing in international competitions, vying for the title of
the "World's Wackiest Racer". This show introduced the characters'
Dick Dastardly, his dog Muttley and Penelope Pitstop. The episodes on this video
include "Wacky Race To Rip Saw" and "Oil's Well That
Ends Well Race".
