The Famous Adventures Of Mr. Magoo
The nearsighted Quincy Magoo portrays various literary and historical characters
in this cartoon from UPA that originally aired on NBC-TV prime-time in 1964.
Magoo's voice is provided by Jim Backus. The adventure featured on this DVD is "Moby
Dick".
Space Ghost
Hanna-Barbera's animated interplanetary crime fighter, Space Ghost, was
originally seen in 1966 on CBS-TV's Saturday morning schedule. Also featured in
the series were the adventures of Dino Boy, actually a lad named Tod who is
trapped in prehistoric time after a time-warp experiment that went amiss.
Featured on this DVD are Space Ghost in "The Heat Thing", "Zorak"
and "The Creature King", and Dino Boy in "The Worm
People". Gary Owen provided the voice of Space Ghost.
The King Features Trilogy
Based on three comic-strip favorites, this animated cartoon trilogy from King
Features was syndicated beginning in 1963. Featured on this DVD are Mort
Walker's Beetle Bailey in "Sutterbugged", Billy De Beck's
Snuffy Smith and Barney Google in "A Hoss Kin Dream" and George
Herriman's Krazy Kat in "Housewarming". Howard Morris provides
the voice of Beetle Bailey and Snuffy Smith, Allan Melvin is Sgt. Snorkel and
Barney Google, Penny Phillips is Krazy Kat and Paul Frees is Ignatz Mouse.
King Kong
Rankin-Bass' animated version of RKO's classic 1933 fantasy film, King Kong was
the first network cartoon series animated in Japan (by Toei Studios) expressly
for an American audience. In the cartoon, first seen in 1966 on ABC-TV's
Saturday morning schedule, the giant gorilla befriends the Bond family and helps
out in their altercations with evildoers, including the nefarious Dr. Who. The
series also included Tom of T.H.U.M.B., a miniaturized secret agent who
has exciting adventures with his Oriental side kick Swinging Jack. The episode
on this DVD features King Kong in "The Jinx Of The Sphinx" and
"The Green Eyed Monster", and Tom of T.H.U.M.B. in "Cool
Nerves And...Steady Hands".
